L'éther Créatif

 

This family arived in France in 2021 after 12 years as Agroforestry farmers in Brazil. They were running a small winery, a self sustainable farm and a small bistro with 70% own produce, getting the rest of the produce from neighbouring organic farms, they were making natural wine, and Pet nats with native fruits. They describe themselves as agro-ecological activists  trying to maintain the balance between their activity and the biodiversity that surrounds them. 

After making natural wine for more than 10 years, participating in fairs, seminars, courses and vistits, which allowed them many contacts in different countries. With many new friends and connections in the natural wine scene, they decided to leave Brazil.

“Perhaps the strongest bond that was created - even though we also had Italian nationality... was with France. Several places in France have won us over, but there is one place, a simple way of living and above all its grapes and its wines which have won our hearts... the Jura”.

After making wine out of Beaujolais, with gamay and nogociant grapes from their friends, in January 2023 they started helping Céline and Steve Gormally (Les Dolomies), and at the end of the season they were surprised with the offer to take over the Dolomies Parcels In Château Chalon. Today Marina and Israel (Dede) of L'ether Creatif is farming a total of 3 Ha. in Pupillin and Château Chalon. Furthermore, Israel can also be found in the kitchen at the famous Le Bistrot des Claquets in Arbois.

Marina and Israel plant trees around the vines. Respects the local fauna and flora (the vines are close to the forest, so everything, insects, birds, small and large mammals, rodents, etc., are their neighbors.

Good management of products and equipment (use well-calibrated equipment to avoid excess drift or wetting, precise dosages according to the actual need for application of the preparations, check the pH and water quality).

Working the soil favors the use of light equipment to avoid soil compaction. 80% of the vines are on very steep terrain, they work with horses or winch + plow. They make natural manure specific for each terroir, and the Vineyards are with Organic and biodynamic certification.

“In almost two and a half years in France, we are almost finished renovating the house that we bought over 200 years old (partly done for ourselves), we are working on 3 hectares of vines (savagnin, chardonnay, trousseau and gamay) and made a little pet nat de négoce with our friends' organic grapes and this adventure is called L'éther Créatif!”
