Timothée Place is another fellow acolyte of Domaine Chérouche, and a good friend of Lucas Madonia. Timothée is situated in the same region as Mythopia, Chérouche and Madonia, with whom he scares his cave, where both of the young aspirants vinify their wines.

Timo is a seasoned sommelier - one of those lucky few who bear their ambition to fruition, and find their way to their very own vineyard. His first work in the vineyard was in the company of Dany and Stéphane of Domaine Cornulus, to whom he attributes his knowledge of terroir. Like many of his peers with whom we work, he's particularly focused on terroir-based covées, and much like Hans-Peter Schmidt, he's intent on letting flowers bloom and biodiversity blossom in order to maintain the natural balance of his parcels, and the liveliness of the microclimate in which he performs his craft.

Having started from humble beginnings, Timothée isn't shy to acknowledge those who've led him to where he is now - and according to him, he's learnt all he knows of pruning, winemaking, and finding joy in winemaking in balance with nature, from Marc and Andrea of Domaine Chérouche.

Timo's approach to resillient winemaking relies on maintaining the balance on which his vines thrive. He's incredibly intent on managing his parcels according to their individual terroir, and therefore vinifies both on a parcel basis, but with a terroir mindset behind the vineyard work. As with any non-interventive vineyard practice, he experiences varying expressions of his grapes at harvest times, according to the seasonal climate. One practice he's preached since beginning his own winemaking, has been leaving as many leaves on his vines as possible, in order to prevent the sun from scorching his grapes, and keeping the indigenous yeasts alive. The eastern-facing granite and calcite slopes typically experience 300 days of sunshine every year, and require adequate adaptation. With the warmth of '22, he's produced, a series of powerful, energetic cuvées, with a long fermentation and no barrel ageing at all - now ready for you to experience.
